This pattern is from Karina Westermann's collection, Doggerland: Knits from a Lost Landscape.
Karina says, "Inspired by an archaeological site on a Scottish island, the Gillean hat is a great introduction to colourwork.
It takes its name from Caisteal nan Gillean, a Mesolithic archaeological site on the island of Oronsay. The site is known for its vast amount of shell deposits as well as stones and bones.
The hat uses beautiful natural yarns that reflect an isolated island environment: a grassy green flickers at the edge whilst the two greys capture the idea of shells strewn across weathered stones."
NB If you would like to knit both the Gillean hat & the wrist warmers, you will need 2 hanks of the Snældan 3ply for the main colour but just one hank of the two contrast colours.
