Føroysk Bindingarmynstur (Faroese Knitting Patterns) is a classic book, containing many of the most famous Faroese knitting motifs. It was originally published in 1932, after Hans M. Debes had travelled around the Faroe Islands collecting the patterns. There are more than 100 motifs in the book.
The text of the book is in Faroese, but no knowledge of the language is required as - apart from a page of introduction - the contents are simply charts of the motifs, with the Faroese name for each pattern.
The book is divided into the following sections:
Konufólkatroyggjumynstur = Women's jumper patterns
Manstroyggjumynstur = Men's jumper patterns
Undirtroyggjumynstur = Underwear top patterns
Bátsmanstroyggjumynstur = Sailors' jumper patterns
Bordar = Borders
