Doggerland

We are thrilled to announce the first of our collaborations with international designers, who will be showcasing Faroese yarns in unique collections.

Karina Westermann is originally from Denmark, but she has lived in Scotland for several years where she designs, teaches and writes about knitting and crochet. She is fascinated by landscapes, history and knitting traditions - including those of her paternal grandmother's Faroe Islands - and seeks to reinterpret these through contemporary knitting design.

Doggerland: Knits from a Lost Landscape is her first full collection of patterns, revealing the unique qualities of Snældan yarn. It is a collection of accessories inspired by the submerged landscape between Britain and Scandinavia. It uses motifs commonly found on artefacts from the Mesolithic Era (the Middle Stone Age) and seeks to take you on a journey through landscapes of your own.

The patterns will be released every few weeks and will be available as single downloads at £3 each.
The patterns are here.
