I’m constantly amazed that I’ve become a knitwear designer, and that I love it so much! I have always enjoyed both art and maths; I studied art briefly before going on to become a structural engineer and then an online retailer. It was after the birth of my fourth child that I rediscovered knitting and found the perfect combination for me.
Since then I’ve designed well over 200 patterns; published in magazines, books and self-published. I’ve written 5 books: Contemporary Irish Knits (Wiley, 2011), Short Row Knits (Potter Craft, 2015) and self published 3 books: Scrumptious Knits, Among Stones and Dovestone Hills. You can find my self-published pattern on my website as well as my online Craftsy classes. www.stolenstitches.com I also teach in-person classes around the world at yarn stores and festivals.
I have Island Wool to thank for introducing me to Faroese yarn. The wool is a wonderful blend of durable but soft that makes it great to knit with and very comfortable to wear. I loved how nicely it bloomed when it was washed; everyone I showed it to wanted to know what the yarn was!
