Anniken Allis

Growing up in Norway I learnt to knit at a very young age and as a teenager I was knitting traditional Norwegian stranded colour work sweaters. I'm considered one of the UK’s leading lace designers and I love creating designs featuring lace and stranded colour work in particular. I love working with natural fibres.

Since 2006, I’ve been teaching workshops at yarn shops and national shows in the UK. My workshops cover a variety of lace techniques, sock knitting, Selbu mittens, cables, steeking, continental knitting, fair isle/stranded colour work, short rows, finishing techniques and more. I also teach online classes.

I have designed for both British and US magazines including Vogue Knitting, Interweave Knits, Knitscene, Knit Simple, Interweave Downton Abbey Knits, Interweave Knitting Traditions, The Knitter, Knitting, Let's Knit, Simply Knitting and have contributed to several books by Sixth & Springs Books.

My first book, Beaded Lace Knitting, will be published by Stackpole Books in May 2015.
