The knitting patterns from Navia and Sirri are a unique fusion of traditional Faroese designs and contemporary styles. They often incorporate motifs from fishermen’s jumpers and the national costume, which have their origins in the early part of the 20th century. Many of these motifs come from small villages or even single farms and bear the name of the person who first knitted them.
The patterns have been translated for the first time into English by The Island Wool Company, and they make use of the amazing range of yarns from Navia and Sirri.
What you now see on our website is just the start of a large archive of Faroese patterns that we are translating. We will be adding new patterns to the website regularly, so it is always worth revisiting to discover the latest additions.
Navia and Sirri patterns are half-price when purchased with the yarn. When we receive payment, we will send you an email with the pattern in pdf format for you to download.
